I sincerely wish to
express my heartfelt thanks to the previous generation who gave us this economic wealth in
spite of the severe days since the Korean War, 1950-53. If not for their effort and sweat,
delivering their devastated mother country out of the ruins, I am convinced I would be
unable to go abroad for travel and study.
Thanks to your generation's endeavors, we young Koreans can proudly go abroad for business
or travel. A passport from the Republic of Korea is the result of their hard work. With
this passport, Koreans are welcomed in almost all countries.
We are indebted to you, my father and mother's generation! What we are today, we owe to
you. |

Passport of Korea. It is a real 'passport' to go abroad
because it symbolizes international power
of Korea in the world. |

I'm so proud to be a
citizen of Korea. We will never forget your sacrifice for Korea.

And I also want to
express my heartfelt thanks to all Japanese and my Japanese supporters because without
their financial and spiritual support, I am convinced that I would not be able to travel
the world, as I am a student with no regular income.
I was exempt from the entire school
fee during the 4 academic years(2000-2004) that I was a student in Japan.
This was possible due to the tax burden shared by all Japanese, so I feel I owe all
Japanese a great debt of gratitude. I will never forget their generosity.
I also show my respect to His Majesty, the Emperor of Japan, and his Imperial Family; they
are emblems of the nation named Japan and her peoples. |

I show respect to the Japanese National Flag and His Majesty. |

However, as a Korean, I will never forget our tragic history
with Japan. Especially, I cannot forget the fact that
Her
Late Majesty, Myungsung, Empress of the Empire of Korea, was assassinated by Japanese in 1895. Despite the
historic tragedy between our two countries, which the Japanese government will never
admit, I feel compelled to pay my respects to His Majesty, The Emperor of Japan, as a
grand symbol of Japan and the Japanese. I am strongly convinced that to
do so is just basic courtesy.
Let me also express my deep thanks to President
Geunsik Lee,
The Seiho Scholarship Foundation. Without his financial support, I would have been
unable to travel, which has been so meaningful to me. My travels have allowed me to have
many valuable experiences, which I know will be very useful in my future career. |

Harmony among an Individual, a Nation and an International |
|
We have
witnessed the truth that individual rights could not be
embodied without national power. And we also have
experienced tragic history caused by strong-arm
power of the state which oppressed individual
rights. International order which disregards national rights must be
retrogression toward
imperialism in spite of one-sided self-beautification and
self-justification of powerful countries. |
